Grameen Kalyan's Social Business Healthcare Centres on Donated Land

Grameen Kalyan is working to bring affordable and quality primary healthcare closer to people living in rural and underserved communities across Bangladesh. Guided by the vision of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, the organisation has been developing a community-based healthcare model that focuses on both prevention and treatment.

As part of this model, healthcare assistants visit households in rural communities and provide basic health services such as health check-ups, blood pressure and diabetes screening, maternal health advice, and nutrition counselling. At Grameen Kalyan's primary healthcare centres, patients can consult physicians and receive diagnosis and treatment, along with affordable diagnostic tests and essential medicines. Health awareness activities are also organised regularly to encourage people to take preventive measures and seek treatment at an early stage.

Grameen Kalyan also provides micro-health insurance as part of its healthcare model. The initiative is aimed at making healthcare more affordable for low-income families and reducing the financial burden associated with medical treatment.

Land & Building Donations

Grameen Kalyan generally establishes its healthcare centres by constructing or renting suitable facilities. In recent years, however, a number of individuals and families from different parts of the country have come forward to donate land or existing structures so that healthcare centres can be established in their communities.

These donations include family-owned and ancestral properties, as well as existing residential, commercial and clinical buildings that can be adapted for use as healthcare centres. The willingness of local people to make their properties available for healthcare services is helping Grameen Kalyan reach communities where access to affordable healthcare remains limited.

Healthcare Centres Currently Being Established

To date, Grameen Kalyan has received several proposals from different parts of Bangladesh for donating land and buildings to establish healthcare centres. After assessing local healthcare needs, accessibility and feasibility, Grameen Kalyan has established or is currently developing healthcare centres on donated properties in five locations:

• Nanduhaar, Pirojpur
• Fulshaind, Sylhet
• Shiyali, Patuakhali
• Habiganj
• Chowdhurybazar, Sylhet

How to Donate

Individuals and families who wish to contribute to improving healthcare in their communities can donate suitable land or an existing building to Grameen Kalyan.

Once a suitable property is donated and accepted for this purpose, Grameen Kalyan will take responsibility for developing the healthcare facility. The necessary infrastructure and facilities required to establish the social business healthcare centre will be constructed or arranged by Grameen Kalyan at its own cost.

In other words, the donated property will provide the place for the healthcare centre, while Grameen Kalyan will undertake the development of the facility and the necessary arrangements to start and operate the healthcare services.

অনুদানকৃত জমিতে গ্রামীণ কল্যাণের সামাজিক ব্যবসাভিত্তিক স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র

বাংলাদেশের গ্রামীণ ও সুবিধাবঞ্চিত মানুষের কাছে সাশ্রয়ী ও মানসম্মত প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা পৌঁছে দিতে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে গ্রামীণ কল্যাণ। নোবেল বিজয়ী অধ্যাপক মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের দর্শনকে ধারণ করে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি প্রতিরোধমূলক ও প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবার সমন্বয়ে একটি কমিউনিটিভিত্তিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা মডেল পরিচালনা করছে।

এই মডেলের আওতায় গ্রামীণ কল্যাণের স্বাস্থ্যকর্মীরা বাড়ি বাড়ি গিয়ে স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষা, রক্তচাপ ও ডায়াবেটিস পরীক্ষা, মাতৃস্বাস্থ্যবিষয়ক পরামর্শ এবং পুষ্টি পরামর্শ দিয়ে থাকেন। গ্রামীণ কল্যাণের প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কেন্দ্রগুলোতে চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ, রোগ নির্ণয় ও চিকিৎসার পাশাপাশি সাশ্রয়ী মূল্যে বিভিন্ন ডায়াগনস্টিক পরীক্ষা এবং প্রয়োজনীয় ওষুধ পাওয়া যায়। রোগ প্রতিরোধ ও সময়মতো চিকিৎসা নেওয়ার বিষয়ে সচেতনতা তৈরিতেও নিয়মিত বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা হয়।

স্বল্প আয়ের মানুষের জন্য স্বাস্থ্যসেবা আরও সাশ্রয়ী করতে গ্রামীণ কল্যাণ তার স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কার্যক্রমের সঙ্গে মাইক্রো-হেলথ ইন্স্যুরেন্স ব্যবস্থাও পরিচালনা করে। এর লক্ষ্য হলো চিকিৎসার ব্যয়জনিত আর্থিক চাপ কমানো এবং নিম্নআয়ের পরিবারগুলোর স্বাস্থ্যসেবার সুযোগ বাড়ানো।

জমি ও ভবন অনুদান

সাধারণত গ্রামীণ কল্যাণ নিজস্ব উদ্যোগে ভবন নির্মাণ অথবা উপযুক্ত স্থাপনা ভাড়া নিয়ে স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপন করে। তবে সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে দেশের বিভিন্ন এলাকার ব্যক্তি ও পরিবার তাঁদের জমি বা বিদ্যমান স্থাপনা স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপনের জন্য অনুদান দেওয়ার আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছেন।

এসব অনুদানের মধ্যে রয়েছে পারিবারিক ও পৈতৃক জমি এবং আবাসিক, বাণিজ্যিক ও ক্লিনিক্যাল ভবন, যেগুলো প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কেন্দ্র হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। স্থানীয় মানুষের এই উদ্যোগ গ্রামীণ কল্যাণকে আরও বেশি এলাকায় স্বাস্থ্যসেবা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার সুযোগ তৈরি করছে।

বর্তমানে যেসব এলাকায় স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপিত হচ্ছে

এ পর্যন্ত দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থান থেকে অনুদানকৃত জমি বা স্থাপনার ওপর স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপনের জন্য গ্রামীণ কল্যাণ বেশ কয়েকটি প্রস্তাব পেয়েছে। বর্তমানে পাঁচটি এলাকায় অনুদানকৃত জমিতে স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপন করা হয়েছে অথবা নির্মাণকাজ চলমান রয়েছে। এলাকাগুলো হলো:

• নান্দুহার, পিরোজপুর
• ফুলশাইন্দ, সিলেট
• শিয়ালী, পটুয়াখালী
• হবিগঞ্জ
• চৌধুরী বাজার, সিলেট

কীভাবে অনুদান দেবেন

নিজ এলাকার সুবিধাবঞ্চিত মানুষের জন্য স্বাস্থ্যসেবার সুযোগ তৈরি করতে আগ্রহী ব্যক্তি ও পরিবার তাঁদের উপযুক্ত জমি বা বিদ্যমান স্থাপনা গ্রামীণ কল্যাণকে অনুদান হিসেবে দিতে পারেন।

জমি অনুদান দেওয়ার পর স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপনের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় অবকাঠামো ও অন্যান্য সুবিধা তৈরির দায়িত্ব গ্রামীণ কল্যাণের। অনুদান হিসেবে গ্রহণ করা উপযুক্ত জমিতে একটি সামাজিক ব্যবসাভিত্তিক স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপনের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় নির্মাণকাজ ও অন্যান্য প্রস্তুতি গ্রামীণ কল্যাণ নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে করবে।

অর্থাৎ, জমি বা উপযুক্ত স্থাপনা অনুদান দেওয়াই হবে স্থানীয় ব্যক্তি বা পরিবারের অবদান; স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র স্থাপনের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় অবকাঠামো নির্মাণ এবং স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কার্যক্রম শুরু ও পরিচালনার দায়িত্ব গ্রামীণ কল্যাণের।

যাঁরা তাঁদের জমি বা বিদ্যমান স্থাপনা স্বাস্থ্যসেবা প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য অনুদান দিতে আগ্রহী, তাঁরা গ্রামীণ কল্যাণের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করতে পারেন। প্রস্তাবিত জমি বা স্থাপনা স্থানীয় স্বাস্থ্যসেবার চাহিদা, যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা, উপযোগিতা এবং অন্যান্য প্রয়োজনীয় বিষয় বিবেচনা করে মূল্যায়ন করা হবে।
